NAR Combat Application Tourniquet
The North American Rescue Combat Application Tourniquet® (C-A-T®) has been in use by military and emergency responders since 2005 and is widely recognized as a prehospital hemorrhage control device. The C-A-T® is a compact, lightweight tourniquet designed for rapid application and is commonly carried in trauma kits, go bags, and wilderness medical kits.
From North American Rescue: following extensive field review the CAT GEN7 was redesigned to improve ease of use and performance. The CAT GEN7 utilizes a single application protocol, a single routing buckle system, and enhanced component construction.
Features include:
• Single Routing Buckle for faster application and effective slack removal
• Reinforced polymer windlass rod with increased diameter for enhanced strength and improved grip
• Reinforced stabilization plate with beveled contact bar
• Signature red elliptical tip (Red Tip Technology®) providing a visual cue during application
• Patented free-moving internal band designed to provide evenly distributed circumferential pressure
The Combat Application Tourniquet® is listed by the U.S. Department of Defense’s Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care (CoTCCC) as an approved hemorrhage control device.
